Rain in New York

It's going to rain tonight in New York. I wish so badly that I was there. Some days I just feel like I can't wait another day until I go, but I have to. My friend told me today that if New York were a man, I would be all over him... and this is true. :)In fact, I think I have fallen in love with "him." I think about "him" all the time and find ways to talk about "him." I dream about Central Park in the snow and Rockefeller Center at Christmas. I can't wait to live among those beautiful city lights! It's going to be amazing! I just have to hold on and keep my eyes focused on the prize... I'll get there.

A New Yorker Trapped in SoCal

Southern California drives me crazy. This morning, it was foggy and I thought to myself THANK GOD Fall is back again... but NO in an hour it's sunny and I'm wearing long sleeves. I'm so sick of this stupid sunny California CRAP! Why can't we be normal and have SEASONS?!

To add to my frustrations, yesterday my car broke down three times on the way home from work. My car has been dying (while I'm driving it, might I add) for over 2 months now. This is yet another reason I belong in beautiful New York... taking the SUBWAY!

Everything in Southern California is so.... CONTRIVED. I hate our shopping centers and our stupid parking lots that come in bulk. Everything comes in BULK. There is nothing unique here, just chain stores and people who lack class. I'm so close to LA it makes me sick... LA produces the kind of people that aren't fit to live in a world full of OTHER PEOPLE. They are so selfish and annoying! At the clothing store where I work, it's like they think they have the right to treat me like I'm dirt because I work there! I don't understand this sense of entitlement that people from LA have. Just because they have spent thousands of dollars to look like a Pamela Anderson disaster, doesn't mean they are better than the normal people.

New York, I miss you so much! I miss your culture, I miss your cafés, I miss your cheesecake! I miss the beautiful buildings and Central Park! I miss Broadway... I miss the rain that soaked my pants all the way past my knees. Wait for me, my love, I'll be there soon... I can't STAND being here much longer.

Manhattan vs. Brooklyn

http://www.citi-habitats.com/viewlisting.php?adID=512068&scroll=1
(I love this apartment!)

So I have been looking at New York apartments online everyday, and I think I will have to live in Manhattan. At first, I was just looking for something cheap, but I realized that I need to be close to work and everything, which I'm hoping will be in Manhattan. Brooklyn is cool and artsy, but Manhattan is where its at!

Can this year go by faster please?

We'll Have Manhattan...

Summer journeys to Niagra
and to other places aggravate all our cares.
We'll save our fares!

I've a cozy little flat in
What is known as old Manhattan
We'll settle down
Right here in town!

We'll have Manhattan
the Bronx and Staten Island too.
It's lovely going through the zoo!

It's very fancy
on old Delancy street you know. (I know)
The subway charms us so
When balmy breezes blow
To and fro.

I'd like to take a
Sail on Jamaica Bay with you,
And fair Canarsie's Lakes we'll view.

The city's bustle cannot destroy
Oooh, the dreams of a girl and boy
We'll turn Manhattan
Into an isle of joy.

And tell me what street
compares with Mott Street in July?
Sweet pushcarts gently gliding by.

The great big city's a wonderous toy
Ooh, just made for a girl and boy.
We'll turn Manhattan into an isle of joy!
We'll turn Manhattan into an isle of joy!

Rent or Buy?

I was trading emails with my NY real estate agent and we were trying to sort some things out about the move. He asked me things like when I will be moving and what I prefer in a place... and then he asked: DO YOU WANT TO RENT OR BUY?

Isn't the answer obvious?

Who wants to throw their money away at rent when you can buy a place and your money GOES somewhere?

Well, if I had the option, I would want to buy... but I'm scared that it might be more expensive because a lot of places there charge maintenance fees monthly. They are often HALF the price of your monthly payment... ICK.

Anyways, send out the good energy for me because I want things to work out the right way! I still feel like I have a lot to learn about all this stuff, especially since I have never BOUGHT a place...

GOOD VIBES, GOOD VIBES... OHMMMMMMM!

Moving Right Along

Both my checks went through today! I just saved a huge chunk more for New York! I'm so proud of myself for being responsible with money! Sometimes Fall is the worst time for me to try and save because of all the new clothes I end up wanting. ...but I paid a huge chunk of my credit card off and saved $300 more! I can't wait to make it to New York. I really am getting closer everyday... and like a nerd, I figured out how to change the pictures on my bank cards to the Manhattan Skyline on one and the Manhattan Bridge on the other! Citi-Habitats.com=Where Dreams Come True

I'm going on day two of my new blog, and about year five of my obsession with living in New York City. I look at citi-habitats.com just about everyday to see what apartments are listed. I swear, they change daily! ...So I thought I would share a few apartments that I think look perfect for me. Just to warn everyone, I am a HUGE fan of exposed brick. Consequently, one of my biggest pet peeves is when people think it's okay to paint brick. It's not okay, and it's never okay! Brick is made to look like--you guessed it--BRICK! Now that that's out of my system, go ahead and take a "gander" at the cute places I found!

I like this one mostly because it has a fireplace, but I'm not too into having carpet. I'm not about to buy a vacuum cleaner and would much rather Swiffer the whole place if I can. (http://www.citi-habitats.com/viewlisting.php?adID=917762&scroll=1)

Alright, so this one doesn't look like much, but I would live in a box if I could pull off living on the Upper East Side! It's small, I know, but location is so worth the price. (http://www.citi-habitats.com/viewlisting.php?adID=475703&scroll=1)

Oh, wow! Its one bedroom instead of a studio... and the neighborhood looks really cute! I like the black tile in the kitchen and bathroom, too! (http://www.citi-habitats.com/viewlisting.php?adID=726848&scroll=1)

EXPOSED. BRICK. FIREPLACE. New York City just looked down at me and smiled; if only I could leave TODAY! (http://www.citi-habitats.com/viewlisting.php?adID=902825&scroll=1)

Not sure why this one is so cheap, but it looks pretty nice. (http://www.citi-habitats.com/viewlisting.php?adID=961233&scroll=1)

PODS.com=Epic Fail

I just checked "pods.com" to see how much it would be to get a pod for moving all my stuff across the country. It turns out that they won't do it, so I guess I'll be shipping a bunch of stuff in boxes. I guess it will be okay. I better start getting rid of junk now so I don't have too much to move! The big move is about a year away if everything goes well. It just can't get here fast enough.

Welcome to Made For Manhattan!

My aunt gave me the idea to start a blog about my journey to New York City. Here, I will update my followers on how the plans for the big move are going and once I get there, on how my life in New York is! I'm so excited for all the changes coming in my future! Every day is a step toward my dream!
